Veterinarian Support

Bonnie Vale is indeed fortunate to have the services of Peter Cosgrove who is based in Wellington and is available on call 24 hours a day. Peter is a very experienced vet with 15 years experience with large numbers of alpacas. Peter is a keen member of the SIG Australian Camelid Veterinarian Association ATVA and is also an accredited JD veterinarian.

Sales

Well priced young female cria start from $2200, young pregnant females from $3300 and older pregnant females from $1650. But "our lowest prices are just the beginning" We provide on-going support to all our purchasers and are keen to share the benefit of our experience. We are happy to negotiate terms of purchase.

Agistment

Bonnie Vale offers excellent agistment facilities and level of care at realistic rates. A major benefit is the line-up of quality stud males offered at special prices to our agistees. Long term agistment for larger flocks from $3.85/week (Inc GST). Fees include all routine livestock husbandry services. Show preparation and halter training by arrangement.

Alpacas as Guards for other Livestock

Alpacas can improve lambing and kidding percentages by 15 - 30 %. Alpacas are easy to care for. They do not require special feed, crutching or lice control and they are not prone to fly strike or foot rot. Alpaca wethers for use against foxes can be purchased for about $500 each and they pay for themselves very quickly. Usually one or two alpacas are needed per 100 acres on flat country and slightly more for hilly and heavily timbered country with up to 10 wethers per flock to control wild dogs.
